Having started the rebuilding, three possible questions arose.

God spoke through Haggai to address each of these concerns

a. God’s reply to “How can we match up to our past glories?” (c.f. 2:1-9)

b. God’s reply to “Why does our present life remain hard even as we obey?” (2:10-19)

c. God’s reply to “When in the near future will everything be restored?” (2:20-23)

3. Greatest Reality:

Jesus is our Perfect Priest & King; in Him, we are in the true temple & kingdom of God, enjoying His dwelling & His rule

The Purpose and Proper Response towards Trials (1 Pet 4:12-19)
What should we expect as believers?

Why does the Lord send trials on believers?

1. Trials serves to show whether we really trust in God or in something else. 

2. Trials helps us appreciate what Christ has gone through for us.

3. Trials reminds us of how dreadful God’s judgment will be

How should we respond when trials hit?

1. Don’t be surprised but rejoice.

2. Don’t be ashamed but keep obeying.

3. Don’t be afraid but commit yourself to God.
